Procedures (photography exhibition, 2004) Druskininkai, a town where the solo exhibition of G-Lab took place, is a home town of one of the collaborators and a resort famous for hydrotherapy treatments and mineral waters (the name of the town derives form a word “salt”). Seven small photographs were displayed in the Town Gallery, which is usually crowded with drawings and paintings by local or visiting artists. The photographs were stills from a nonexistent video piece where one could see both artists talking, washing themselves, cooking and performing other routines related with water. Nearly every frame “caught” a subtitle – bits of conversation “translated” into English. They simultaneously play two roles: first, they allow to eavesdrop and imagine what issues do artists discuss in their daily lives and, secondly, they prove the existence of a video piece and let us assume that the frames have already been representing artists and Lithuania for a foreign audience. This piece is first of all a play with an issue of return, and, as far as the reactions of the local audience were reported, the play has achieved its aim – satisfaction of the genius loci. by Virginija Januskeviciute for youngartists.lt
