"...i just listened to it carefully. First of all, i think it can be mixed/mastered more coherently, but it may be your choice to make it this stratified. That's what I feel. It needs more low freqs and less unequivocal main motives production-wise. Then, I very very much like the play of timbres, this percussive-electro-reverbered ones – a true unification of acoustic and electronic; and very interesting play, variability, very up-to-date. And I believe this play is one of the main elements of this piece, however I must say I find it too static and I have trouble staying focused (you know me). And for me the wonderful timbres you include – and great changes – are a promise of something more than I find in the piece... like you stopped halfway. But this is your aesthetical choice probably (i know you). Also I would generally say that the concept is weaker than the material (microstructure). The brass-like chorals were one of the causes why I feel like that. However I must say they justify themselves in the end somehow in this turn into rich, though "empty" chords and from soundblaster-electronic to almost-acoustical. Which again connects to the microstructural acoustic-electronic play and that is another justification..." excerpt from the disscusion between Arturas Bumsteinas and A.B. 2006/07/28 |
